This yearly celebration of the season includes millions of holiday lights put up in creative displays along the area’s roads, exciting events at some of the region’s most popular attractions, and more. Plus, the holiday light displays even extend towards our campground here in Sevierville, and in the other direction towards Gatlinburg, so no matter where you choose to explore, there will be festive fun around every corner!
2. Visit SkyLand Ranch
Another of the best things to do during winter in the Smoky Mountains is to head over to SkyLand Ranch in Sevierville, where there is lots to enjoy throughout the season! Leading up to Christmas, there is the beautiful Festival of Lights which also includes holiday entertainment, tasty treats, and plenty more. You can also head over to their sister company, Rowdy Bear’s Smoky Mountain Snowpark in Pigeon Forge for the longest snow tubing of its kind in the entire state!
3. Explore Great Smoky Mountains National Park
Although it is a bit chilly outside during winter in the Smoky Mountains, you can still have an amazing time exploring Great Smoky Mountains National Park, as most of the park is open year-round! Although some areas do close seasonally, a majority of the park remains open throughout the winter! You can head out for a hike and enjoy the winter atmosphere in the Smokies, or take a scenic drive if you’d rather stay warm and comfy in your vehicle.
