Here at Uncle Jim’s River Cove Campground, we are delighted to welcome visitors looking to go camping in the Smoky Mountains during just about every time of year! Coming to visit during spring provides a different experience than a trip during fall, which is why we have put together this helpful guide to camping in the Smoky Mountains during each season to help you plan your next stay with us. Spring

Spring can be an excellent time of year for camping in the Smoky Mountains, as the temperatures are pleasant and there are tons of gorgeous wildflowers in bloom throughout the area. Additionally, since it is warm during the day, you can enjoy activities such as paddling on the river, hiking in the woods, and more. Spring break is an especially popular time to come and stay with us, so make sure to reserve your spot early if you want to visit!

Summer

Summer is undoubtedly one of the most popular times of year to go camping in the Smoky Mountains. The temperatures tend not to get too hot, and schools are out, making it easy for families to head to the Smokies for some camping fun! If you choose to visit during the summertime, you will be able to take advantage of all the many outdoor things to do in the Smoky Mountains, including hiking, swimming, stargazing, and lots more. This is also an ideal time of year to go fishing here at our campground, which is permitted with a valid fishing license. Just remember to book your summer plans well in advance so you have your choice of sites!

Fall

Fall is a special time of year in the Smoky Mountains, so it is little surprise that many people choose to come camping during this season. As the leaves change throughout mid-October and early November, the mountains are overtaken by an amazing combination of red, orange, and yellow, making it a truly unique sight to behold. Although the temperatures become colder in the evening during this time of year, you will be comfortable in your RV here at Uncle Jim’s River Cove Campground!

Winter

Although you may not think that you can go camping in the Smoky Mountains during the wintertime, we are happy to welcome visitors during this season as well! When you come to visit the area in the wintertime, you can see gorgeous snowy views, check out holiday events in Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, enjoy skiing and snowboarding, and lots more. Our Smoky Mountain campground closes a few days after New Years and reopens during the second week of February, but aside from that period, we are open throughout the winter!
